Roma signs Baptista to four-year deal

08/15/2008 - Rome, Italy (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Roma has finally completed the signing of Brazil forward Julio Baptista on a four-year deal from Spanish champions Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old is reported to have cost Roma around $15 million.

"Real Madrid wants to express its gratitude to a man who has always been noticeable for his professionalism, arduous work and spirit of sacrifice for the club," a statement from Real read.

"Real Madrid wishes him the best of luck and a successful future in his professional career and also reiterates its gratitude for all the services provided by a footballer who is a true example of professionalism."

Baptista had been at the Bernabeu for three seasons following his arrival from Sevilla, scoring 12 goals in 69 appearances for the Spanish giants.

He spent the whole of the 2006-07 season on loan with Arsenal, scoring 10 times in 35 outings for the Gunners.
