11/27/2008 - Detroit, MI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Chris Johnson and LenDale White each recorded a pair of rushing touchdowns as Tennessee crushed Detroit, 47-10, at Ford Field.
Johnson racked up 125 yards on 16 carries while White gained 106 yards on 23 rushes for the Titans (11-1), who rebounded nicely from a 34-13 home loss to the Jets last Sunday.
Kerry Collins completed 11-of-18 passes for 127 yards and Rob Bironas booted four second-half field goals for Tennessee, which posted its most points in a game since a 48-27 win at Green Bay on October 11, 2004.
Daunte Culpepper threw for 134 yards, a score and a pick on 13-of-26 completions for the Lions (0-12), who try for their first win of the year on December 7 by playing host to Minnesota.
Calvin Johnson hauled in five balls for 66 yards while Kevin Smith led an anemic rushing attack with 22 yards on 12 carries.
Already ahead by a wide margin at halftime, Tennessee continued to score but eased up on the throttle in the second half.
Bironas' 49-yard field goal capped the Titans' opening drive of the third quarter, and his 41-yarder with 2:24 to play in the period brought the visitors' advantage to 41-10.
A muffed punt early in the fourth quarter gave Tennessee the ball at the Lions' 31 and Bironas was good from 45 yards out four plays later.
The Titans got some luck to go ahead 47-10 with 4:29 remaining in the contest, as Bironas' 43-yard attempt caromed off the right post and through the uprights.
On the second play from scrimmage, Lions wideout Shaun McDonald had the ball knocked out and Tennessee recovered at the Lions' 34. Two plays later, Johnson rolled untouched into the end zone on a six-yard score.
Jason Hanson hit from 53 yards out to cap Detroit's following drive, 45 yards in eight plays for a 7-3 contest.
The Titans took a 14-3 edge on the next series as Johnson broke free on a 58- yard run for a touchdown, then went up 21-3 when Culpepper was pressured into throwing right to Dave Ball who raced 15 yards for the touchdown.
It was 28-3 less than a minute into the second quarter when White cruised to a six-yard TD run, and his second rushing score of the contest came with 2:48 to play in the half and the Titans held a 35-3 lead.
Tennessee's next series took a wrong turn as Collins was stripped at his own 29-yard-line, with Cliff Avril recovering and carrying to the two. Culpepper then found Michael Gaines in the back of the end zone for a two-yard connection and 35-10 game.

El Duque expected to throw Tuesday
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.
Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine.
El Duque's health is a major issue for the Mets, who won the NL East in 2007 and came within one victory of the World Series. Their aging and unsettled rotation is a big question mark this year.
MySportsbook.com has the Mets as -110 favorites to repeat as NL East champions odds.
Hernandez went 11-11 with a 4.66 ERA last season, including 9-7 with a 4.09 ERA in 20 starts after the Mets acquired him from Arizona in late May. But he missed the playoffs because of a torn calf muscle.
New York already is without Pedro Martinez, out until at least midseason following rotator cuff surgery. Among those competing for starting jobs are prospects Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and Jason Vargas, plus veterans Chan Ho Park, Jorge Sosa and Aaron Sele.
Notes: Mets manager Willie Randolph is excited about two new utility players he could have on his bench: Damion Easley and David Newhan. ''Their value is really all over the place,'' Randolph said. Easley can play anywhere in the infield and could be used as an emergency outfielder, though Randolph said he would prefer to keep the veteran in the infield. Newhan, meanwhile, can play second base, third or any outfield position for the Mets. ''I love versatility,'' Randolph said. ''I love guys that can give me options when I need them to step in.''
